and is the science around sucralose in the environment continually being reviewed and assessed?<\/h5> <p>Sucralose has been detected in the environment, as is most of what people consume and excrete as part of daily life, with most of the reports stemming from sucralose in various water bodies, such as lakes, rivers and streams.\u00a0 The concentrations of sucralose reported today are similar to those predicted in the 1990\u2019s prior to the market introduction of sucralose.\u00a0New reports and publications related to sucralose in the environment are routinely monitored.\u00a0 It is important to review these reports to ensure that sucralose is safe for the environment.\u00a0 In 2012, a re-review of all sucralose environmental data was published by Norwegian and American scientists in the journal\u00a0<em>Science of the Total Environment\u00a0<\/em>(Tollefsen et al., 2012<em>).\u00a0<\/em>Based on the original data from the UK Food Additive Petition and newer published data, the scientists concluded that sucralose poses no risk to the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/article><article  class=\"icon-content-box content-box icon-left icon-style-1\"><div class=\"icon-holder\"><span class=\"q icon-help-circled\"><\/span><\/div><div class=\"text-holder\"><h5 class=\"heading\">Does sucralose accumulate in the tissues of plants and wildlife?<\/h5> <p>Published studies by the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and the Norwegian Institute for Water Research determined that sucralose does not bioaccumulate in aquatic plants, invertebrates, and fish (Brorstr\u00f6m-Lund\u00e9n, E et al. 2008 Part I and Brorstr\u00f6m-Lund\u00e9n, E et al. 2008 Part II).\u00a0A series of short and long term ecotoxicological studies with plants and animals have been conducted with sucralose.\u00a0These studies follow internationally validated and accepted methodologies.\u00a0 No adverse effects (e.g. survival, growth and reproduction) were observed in these studies.\u00a0In fact, the concentrations of sucralose utilized in these studies are higher than those detected in the environment<\/p>\n<\/div><\/article><article  class=\"icon-content-box content-box icon-left icon-style-1\"><div class=\"icon-holder\"><span class=\"q icon-help-circled\"><\/span><\/div><div class=\"text-holder\"><h5 class=\"heading\">Is sucralose toxic to plants and wildlife?<\/h5> <p>No.\u00a0 A series of short and long term ecotoxicological studies with plants and animals have been conducted with sucralose.\u00a0 These studies follow internationally validated and accepted methodologies.\u00a0 No adverse effects (e.g. survival, growth and reproduction) were observed in these studies.\u00a0 In fact, the concentrations of sucralose utilized in these studies are higher than those detected in the environment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/article>[\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;
